We are excited to officially announce Pink Cake Box’s appearance on a new prime-time TLC competition series ULTIMATE CAKE OFF airing October 12th, 2009 at 10 PM ET/PT.
With only nine hours, the competitors must make cakes that are at least five feet tall and are creative enough to win the taste of the client and the ultimate prize. To add to the pressure, the contestants also face two mini-challenges – a skills test and a taste test – that could give one team the ultimate advantage: being able to sit out another team for 30 minutes.
We’ll send out a reminder to everyone once the date gets closer. To ensure you get the reminder feel free to join any of the services below:
This past Sunday was my good friend Ann’s baby shower! I was honored enough to throw the shower along with another friend at Elizabeth in NYC. The theme was Noah’s Ark, as you can see
We created a cupcake tier topped with an Ark that matched the invitation. The cupcakes were wrapped in leopard print liners and topped with stitched animal cutouts (except for the bottom row which depicted the ’sea’ with sugar fish and other sea life.) 3D sugar animals were hanging out amongst the cupcakes. For the tables we added animal cookies (2 by 2 of course), along with their own burlap sack, at each place setting.
It was so fun to create all of these treats for such a great friend. And I even got to eat a cupcake too!! Congrats Ann & Hunter! We can’t wait to meet the little guy or gal! Ann’s mom left us this wonderful email after the event:
Dear Anne, just finished the last bite of your absolutely deeeeeeelicious cake from Sunday! Ann shared a bit of the ark with us and it was sooooo good, as were your cupcakes and cookies! You are a master! Still enjoying the wonderful memories of the shower you planned for Ann. We love you and all that you do. Thank you, again, for the very special friend and person who you are! Love to you – and Jesse, too! Margie
PS Sorry for the 5 foot giraffe Hunter…space is really a state of mind….hahahah
We created this package of cookies, cupcakes and cake topper for my friend Kim’s Baby Shower in Pennsylvania. The topper includes Kim perched on top wearing a strapless dress. Next to her was a shopping bag dripping with both baby girl and boy clothes…she doesn’t know what she’s having …but loves baby clothes shopping ! I really can’t blame her – they are so cute ! The cake flavor was coconut with coconut and chocolate filling.
Along with the topper, we included our small cupcake stand and 40 cupcakes with blue and pink flower cutouts and 40 onesie cookies.
Congrats Kim – I can’t wait to meet your little one…I know he or she will be very well dressed
This 1st birthday cake was inspired to match the parties invitation. We included cupcake cutouts on the second tier and brown fondant bands at the base of each tier. The flavors included chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream and vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream.
Every child should receive at least one Raggedy Ann or Andy doll at some point during their childhood. As part of this 1st birthday cake we incorporated the original 1915 dolls sitting at the top of the cake with their legs hanging down and balloons and stars in teh background. The cake includes light yellow fondant with blue, red, white and yellow polka dots. The flavors included vanilla cake with pistachio buttercream, chocolate cake with hazelnut buttercream and red velvet with raspberry buttercream.
We topped this bridal shower cake with red roses and alternated the tiers with white and champagne fondant. The second tier includes a black damask pattern and the bottom and top tiers include white swiss dots.
So it’s been a whole month since Mama Khoobs’ birthday – but I forgot to put up a picture of her cake! The cake was a coconut cake filled with dark chocolate ganache- her favorite! I topped the cake with what else, but a mini Mama Khoobs! Complete with her little scarf and Talbots-y outfit. Obviously next to her is a Talbots bag (her favorite store is Talbots if you didn’t catch on by now)…a little needle-point, knitting needles and a ribbon for her garden club….just a few of her favorite things! Happy Birthday Mama Khoobs!
PS. Mama Khoobs’ saved herself, but unfortunately her legs fell off so she now rests on a ‘triage’ tray on the speed rack awaiting leg re-attachment surgery.
We created this giant cupcake with coordinating stripes and white frosting with polka dots and cherry for a 1st birthday party. The large cupcake was carrot cake with vanilla buttercream. We also included our small cupcake tier for the cupcakes.
