Brides Magazine – Miniature Wedding Cakes

August 2nd, 2009

Kim from Brides magazine contacted us back in March asking us if we’d be interested in creating 3 miniature cakes airbrushed to match a gorgeous ombre chiffon textile with shades of tangerine and magenta. The idea was that the three cakes’ colors when lined up side-by-side should mirror the color progression on the chiffon:

Here’s the final product published in this fall’s issue.

The editor left us a flattering post on the brides Wedded Bits Blog. Thanks Kim!

I totally gasped when I saw her creations for the first time—and I think you will too when you pick up this issue of the magazine. For a small wedding, having miniature cakes—one for each guest, can be a really fun idea! Check out the Fall/Winter 2009 issue of Brides New Jersey for more great stories and fabulous ideas!

Sculpted Picnic Basket Anniversary Cake

Sculpted Picnic Basket Anniversary Cake

This picnic basket cake was created for a 40th anniversary surprise party. The party had a barbecue theme and the cake included a basket complete with watermelon, barbecued chicken leg and a small little ant stealing a piece of cheese.

Inside the basket included red velvet cake with one layer of vanille buttercream, one layer of raspberry buttercream, and one layer of hazelnut buttercream.

We delivered the cake to Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ.

Renee left us this email after the party. We look forward to seeing her pictures:

Dear Anne & Crew,

The picnic basket cake for my parent’s 40th anniversary was amazing. (July 18th) My parents loved it – and so did all of our other guests. It had a room to itself! Hope to send you a few pictures in the next day or so.
Thank you for all of your hard work for us!

Sincerely,
Renee

Ironman Cake

July 29th, 2009

Iron Man Celebration Cake Swimming Biking Running

A 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run to top it all off. The Ironman is an amazing and somewhat insane test of human endurance and athleticism. This cake was created as a surprise gift for a friend of ours who competed and successfully finished an Ironman competition this weekend in Lake Placid, NY.

The cake includes Chris performing all three events including a celebratory shot of him crossing the finish line with a beer in hand. The flavors included red velvet with vanilla buttercream and chocolate cake with oreos and cream. A perfect energy booster after competing in a 140.6 mile endurance test!

Mr. Ironman himself left us his thumbs up on Facebook:

It looked so great after I was done that I didn’t want to eat it. Glad we did though because it tasted amazing!

And his sister Jen also passed along some kudos:

Still can’t stop looking at pictures of it. It was a great energy boost for all us spectators too!!
