So I’m leaving in 1.5 hours for the airport….and I’m procrastinating from packing. I really despise packing. It was bad enough packing up all of the cake supplies…and I had tons of help! Now as I sit staring at my empty suitcase and a pile of clothes on my bed…I find myself looking for everything and anything to do other than pack. I’m only going to be gone for 3 days….it really shouldn’t be that difficult … one might say.
So to continue my procrastination…I’d like to mention that there is a holiday on Monday called National Pink Day. After some google searches I’m 75 percent sure this is a ‘faux’ holiday…but I choose to recognize and celebrate it anyway for obvious reasons…. It also is the day of the Food Network Challenge…so I’ll use all that pink power to keep me cool, calm and collected. (Ha. that’s amusing…I’m sure if you know me you are shaking with laughter). But I will try to channel some pink if I do become stressed during the challenge….
I welcome you all to celebrate Pink Day…eat some pink ice cream, or buy a pink shirt…or drink a pink-tini! Ok…now I’m really babbling and time is ticking so I guess I should get moving…
But before I go, I want to take this opportunity to thank my entire staff, (including Papa Norton) and my family for helping me get ready for this event. I would be nowhere without you
Tootles!!

We prepared this 4 tier topsy turvy cake for a sweet 16 party in Clifton, NJ this past weekend. The bottom tier included pink, silver and black stripes of different widths. The 3rd tier was decorated with circles covering a pink fondant background while the 2nd tier was decorated with a zebra print pattern and a pink bow. Finally we topped it off with a black diamond patterned top tier and a silver 16 on top with stars. The flavors included vanilla with raspberry chambord, chocolate with peanut butter, and our signature pink velvet with raspberry chambord.

We received this wonderful letter from the birthday girl:
Dear Anne,
Thank you SO MUCH for the cake you made for my sweet 16. It looked amazing and was a big hit! All my friends loved the cake! Not only did it look outstanding it tasted SO good. I cannot thank you enough. The cookies you also made for my party favors were also amazing! All of my friends have been calling me after they ate the cookies because at first they were to afraid to eat something so amazing but once they had it they just had to rave about how amazing it was. All of your work is amazing I always have to look at the new cakes you make on your website because they are all simply beautiful! My favorite cake with the cupcakes and cookies you have made though are obviously the ones you made for my party. It simply made the night and I will definitely be back for other events! Thank you so much once again!

Last Wednesday, my brother, Serge, graduated from his Cardiology fellowship. I counted this as the 6th graduation I’ve been alive for (my mother counted 7 including Kindergarden
) Anyhoo, on Saturday we celebrated at a great party…
Of course I had to make a cake to commemorate the occasion - so we replicated the board game Operation, but changed up the playing pieces to touch upon events since Medical School. The icing on the cake was the LED red light up nose! Congratulations Serge!!!

This weekend we created an assortment of cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries and a 4 tier square cake for a Bat Mizvah at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ.
We focused the cake’s decoration to match the event’s “pen & ink” theme. The four tier cake was topped with a sugar paste ink blotter with an Ostrich feather plume. Each tier was decorated with sugar paste tiles that included hand painted designs and numbers to resemble a calligrapher’s work.
Each cupcake was also topped with a miniature sugar tile featuring a calligraphy number.

The team at Still Life Fine Event Design created the cupcake stand.
