We were so excited to be able to create a cake and cupcakes for tennis champion Maria Sharapova this past Tuesday. Tag Heuer threw her a big bash to celebrate her 21st birthday at Tenjune in NYC. We decorated a 2 tier top cake w/black fondant, gumpaste roses and orchids in bright pink and orange, lots of crystal, and of course 21 hot pink candles!
The cupcakes were all vanilla w/shades of pink and orange (vanilla) frosting. Some had sugar discs featuring “MS” and “21″ and some had funky flowers in pink, black and orange. To finish off the stand, we added lots of crystal butterflies fluttering around… It seemed fitting since the room was encircled with beautiful cherry blossom branches.
Check out some pics…and even a video!

We were asked to theme this 4 tier wedding cake based on “The Kiss” painting by Gustav Klimt. The painting has special meaning to the bride and groom because the groom proposed to the bride in Vienna, Austria in front of the painting. The painting is the bride’s favorite and after seeing a rendition of the cake done by Charm City Cakes, they asked us to create a version for their wedding.
The entire cake is apple spice with caramel mousse filling.

A couple recently approached us and asked if we could make a cake for their cats. They were planning to have a pizza party celebrating their cats birthday and wanted a cake to match the theme. The result was this cake - the two cats enjoying their pizza on top of empty pizza cartons.
