Happy Birthday Plane Cake (1276)

50th Birthday Airplane Cake

This is one of those cases where the picture does not properly convey how large the cake is. So I’ll preface this post by stating the cake is 3 feet long and feeds 100 people. So keep that in mind as you read this :)

The story behind this cake is that it represents a model of a plane the birthday boy wants but does not have yet. The cake includes models of his dogs, his company’s logo, LED lights and a grammy. We delivered the cake to Atlantic City, NJ. Inside the plane was marble cake with oreos and cream buttercream.

Happy 50th Birthday Gary!

Here’s a video I shot at the shop:

Can’t wait till Nancy sends us the professional photos. I agree with her – the picture doesn’t do it justice…

Dear Anne – Thank you, thank you, thank you for the unreal cake. The picture on your web site doesn’t do it justice!! Everyone was totally blown away by the cake and most importantly, my husband flipped over it!! Every detail was perfect and the addition of the lights was awesome. I can’t wait to get the professional pictures back (not that yours weren’t professional :-) ) – the cake lit up was especially dramatic in the dark club. I will forward them to you when I get them. It is so true that you can’t appreciate the shear size of it. Of course the cake tasted wonderful!

Again, thanks so much and I look forward to working with you again in the future.

Nancy

That’s marvelous. I have been watching Last Restaurant Standing. They actually attempted to make a plane cake. It didn’t work. Well I did want to pop in and say that my grand daughter and I will be rooting for you at the Capital area cake-off. I saw the link on your blog and since her birthday is coming up, (dreaded 13), I wanted to treat her to something special. She has loved cooking but does not really put the thought into it. She is young but I want her to get a dream in her head to inspire her. She is also going to be taking the cupcake class on Sunday, I think it is. So you will have at least 2 New Jersey people in you corner. Her name is Abby. So her and I will be seeing you next week. Just look for the girl with wide amazed eyes. Good luck.
