I’ll never forget the first time I played Super Mario Brother’s for Nintendo back in middle school. I was instantly hooked and that soon began my obsession with the Super Mario Brothers video game series and Nintendo. Nintendo has come a long way since the early nineties but I’ll never forget the classic Nintendo that introduced me to the video gaming world. This cake brought back all those memories and was created for a groom at the Madison Hotel this past weekend. (Coincidentally we created another Nintendo DS cake at Madison Hotel nearly one year ago.) The flavors included vanilla cake with coconut buttercream.

Update! We are happy to report the groom’s cake was well-received at wedding. Michele left us this comment below:

This is the cake that you made for my wedding at the Madison Hotel on June 6th..it was literally the hit of the reception..People couldn’t believe that it was a cake and it was so delicious. There was even an employee of Nintendo at the wedding and really got a kick out of it! Thanks so much!

She asked for a cake replica of their 1928 colonial revival. Her husband’s birthday was also a house warming party – and after renovating the house for over a year, they were ready to celebrate.

The house cake included red velvet with lemon cream cheese and was delivered to the house party in Maplewood, NJ. Happy Birthday!

When we were asked to replicate Rachael Ray’s talk show kitchen, we definitely didn’t know what we were in for! I’m not even sure how many hours it took my staff and I to complete this cake…but let’s just say we were all at Pink Cake Box into the wee morning. (I want to take this time to thank the entire Pink Cake Box staff for your hard work on this project! It was a great team effort!)

This replica cake was 3 feet long by 2 feet wide. The flavor was chocolate cake with oreos and cream. Everything in the kitchen was edible, except for the walls and shelves…although those too were covered in sugar. The counter, refrigerator, stove and all of Rachael Ray’s trinkets were replicated out of fondant, sugar paste, and cake.

Below enjoy some of the photos of our staff and behind the scenes at the Rachael Ray show. Happy 40th Rachael Ray! We are so glad we could help make your day special.

You can catch the video of the cake on the Rachael Ray website. Here is what they had to say on the website:

No birthday party is complete without cake, and this one is what Rachael would call a “jaw-dropper” — an exact replica of the studio kitchen, from the baby blue fridge and the orange stove to the wine rack, counter accessories, the kitchen table, tile floor and more!

This past Thursday we competed in a cake contest sponsored by the Somerset Art Association. The “Let Them Eat Cake” contest’s theme was the celebration of spring. We created the “Bloom of the Ball” which was a nature inspired party dress adorned with sugar roses, vines, and leaves hanging on a dress form.

The cake was a sour cream orange zest cake filled with pistachio and white chocolate buttercream. It was a really great experience creating this 46″ tall cake, although its transportation to Bedminister Fiddler Elbow’s country club was a little daunting…not to mention our air brush machine overheated and blew out every fuse in our store the night before! This forced us to hand paint the cake…but it all worked out in the end.

We were so excited to win the “Show Stopper” award. I couldn’t have done it without my staff. Thanks for all of your hard work…and keeping me sane through this past reaaaallly long week!

The thing about it is that there was actually ‘nibblin’ on sponge cake’ going on here. Well, not so much sponge cake, as red velvet and chocolate fudge cake….but it’s close enough! These 3 cakes were created for a 60th birthday party with a Margaritaville theme at the Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, NJ. A parrot on a perch, margarita with a lime, and cheeseburger…..some people claim that there’s a woman to blame, But I know it’s Pink Cake Box’s fault….
