Snowboarding Bar Mitzvah Cake

Right in time for the upcoming snowboarding season, we worked this week to create this four tier topsy turvy cake complete with a snowboard, helmet, boots, gloves and goggles. We created the cake for Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah at Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes, NJ.

The snowboard cake was covered in graphite gray fondant with fondant decorations in red, black and white. Accents of green, blue, yellow and orange rounded out the rest of the colors.

Our client provided various logos and elements to be included on the cake.

Flavors and fillings included vanilla with chocolate buttercream, lemon with raspberry chambord buttercream, chocolate with oreos and cream buttercream and red velvet with vanilla buttercream.

We have a really cool Bar Mitzvah cake – it’s a snowboard themed cake. We created a replica of the snowboard with bindings and several details. Lots of work was put into this cake! The cake includes snow, a helmet, goggles, gloves and his boots strewn about the cake. The back of the board includes a pattern and is wedged into the snow.

Sports Locker Bar Mitzvah Cake

We collaborated with Linda from Party Production Unlimited to create this sports lock Bar Mitzvah cake. Linda’s client wanted a sports locker cake that had a variety of sports equipment including a basketball,baseball, football and lacrosse stick.

The blue locker includes Ben’s name engraved in the front with his lacrosse stick coming out from inside the locker. At the top, swim goggles are hanging. The base of the locker includes additional sports paraphernalia including a hockey puck, baseball, basketball, and tennis ball. A white football jersey also sits at the base of the locker with the client’s name and number in royal blue.

Flavors and fillings included vanilla rainbow polka dot cake (funfetti) with raspberry chambord buttercream, marble cake with oreos and cream buttercream, and red velvet cake with vanilla buttercream. The cake was delivered to Trump National in Bedminster, NJ.

Basketball Themed Bar Mitzvah Cake

Even though it’s likely that this year’s pro basketball season will be cancelled entirely, there is still some hope that the owners and players will come to an agreement. Jesse likely agrees, as he asked us to create this basketball themed Bat Mitzvah cake using the color scheme from his favorite NY b-ball team.

The top of the cake is decorated in white fondant with criss cross patterns to simulate a basketball net for the large orange basketball that sits above it. The middle tier is covered in orange fondant with a black fondant stripe. The client provided us with the party’s logo which is monogrammed with Jesse’s name. The bottom tier of the cake includes alternating stripes of varying length in black, white, gray and orange.

Flavors and fillings included red velvet with vanilla buttercream, chocolate with oreos and cream buttercream, and vanilla with vanilla and chocolate buttercream. We delivered the cake to Pure (Formerly Abyss) in South Amboy, NJ.

1980's Style Arcade Cake

We are excited to post this cake – a replica of a classic arcade game.  The standing arcade cake was based on images sent by the client for a Bar Mitzvah at Powerhouse Studios in East Hanover, NJ.

Having grown up in the eighties and nineties, I remember attending parties centered around skating and arcades. This freestanding arcade includes all the classic features of a 1980′s style arcade – the big red joystick, the red fire button, and the 25 cent deposit to play.

This was my son’s Bar Mitzvah party cake It was both amazing looking and super yummy. Wonderful attention to detail and very authentic (we had people actually trying to play it thinking it was a mini game!) The cake was one chocolate layer, and one vanilla layer, with oreo buttercream. BIG hugs and thanks to you guys for making Liam one happy guy!! (Mom too )

Traveling Bar Mitzvah Cake

This cake was created for a twin boys’ B’nai Mitzvah at the Highlawn Pavillion in West Orange, NJ. The theme of the cake was Ben’s and Oliver’s world. The cake was designed to represent their respective interests and the top of the cake includes a picture of a US passport to coordinate with the event’s invitations.

We received several photos of the boy’s favorite sports and interests to use as inspiration on the cake. Each of those mementos were included in two different suitcase tiers – one for Oliver and one for Ben. Some of these items included luggage tags, skis, a mountain bike, a dog, a lacrosse stick, football, a saxophone and a clarinet. The final tier is painted with an old world map to finish off the “world” theme. The luggage tags included the following places – New York, London, Vancouver, York, Sanibel, Banff, Bay Head, Hoboken, Woodstock and Pocklington.

Flavors ad fillings included vanilla with vanilla buttercream, chocolate buttercream and oreo buttercream and red velvet with vanilla Italian
meringue and raspberry chambord buttercream.

Bat Mitzvah Tree Cake

This Bar Mitzvah tree cake is the largest cake we have ever done – at least in terms of weight! Atop the tree sits a copper lantern and along the side of the tree trunk is carved text which reads – “THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL FLOURISH LIKE THE PALM TREE, HE WILL GROW LIKE A CEDAR IN LEBANON.”

We worked with the always fabulous David Mitchell from Still Life for this event. David and his team did a great job setting the entire theme for this event.

Painted Bar Mitzvah Cake

The theme for this four tier painted Bar Mitzvah cake was “from generation to generation”. Inspiration came from photos sent by the client depicting a variety of scenes across generations including present data New Jersey suburbs, the lower east side in the 1950′s with kids playing stickball, scenes from Eastern Europe and scenes from Jerusalem.

At the top of the cake is an open torah with L’dor V’dor in Hebrew. Flavors included vanilla cake with raspberry buttercream, vanilla cake with raspberry chambord buttercream, red velvet with vanilla buttercream and chocolate with cappuccino & chocolate buttercream. We delivered the cake to the Old Mill In in Basking Ridge, NJ.

The top of this 3 tier square bar mitzvah cake is highlighted by a movie reel with the message “Get Wild with Grant”. Decorating the cake are movie posters of various comedies including Wedding Crashers, The Hangover, Blades of Glory, Anchorman and Semi-Pro.

The cake colors included black, pewter, white and gold and the flavors in the top tier included red velvet with 2 layers of raspberry chambord and 1 layer of lemon cream cheese. The remaining flavors included chocolate cake with peanut butter and chocolate buttercream and vanilla cake with oreo and vanilla buttercream. We delivered the cake to the Mountain Lakes Country Club in NJ.

We incorporated purple gold, black and white colors into this 4 tier cake for a football themed bar mitzvah. The cake included a special purple velvet cake with lemon cream cheese dyed in yellow and gold. Atop the first tier sits a football and football player holding a heisman trophy.

This spinning globe bar mitzvah cake was inspired by the artwork of Sir Edward Burne. The boys name is decorated across the base of the cake in Old English font and gilded with gold. Scripture passages from Genesis and a Adam and Eve scene are painted across the globe. Spiraling up from the base is a 3D snake wrapped in vines.

To top it off the globe includes a motor which spins the globe. See the video below I took in the shop which shows off the spinning globe:
