Cupcake Wedding Cake (777)

Jennifer contacted us back in December for a surprise groom’s cake and later came back with her fiance for a wedding cake.  They were getting married on Sept 12, 2008 at Seasons in Washington Twp and were looking for ways to make their day a “little different than normal.”  Both of them loved cupcakes, and Jennifer was an avid cupcake baker for her friends and family.

But instead of cupcake towers with traditional sized cupcakes, they wanted to do something bigger. We had done giant cupcake cakes before, but they wanted to top that.  As Jennifer put it, she wanted an “honest to god giant cupcake.”  In addition to the size, we had to keep the cake elegant and sophisticated to match the theme and decor of the wedding.

We ultimately decided to create three tiers of stacked cupcakes.  The color of the cupcake wrapper matched Jennifer’s sash.  The top of the cupcake was decorated with a purple blossom and each cupcake liner was decorated with piped swirl dots.  The cupcake flavors included chocolate cake with raspberry chambord filling, red velvet cake with cream cheese filling and white cake with hazelnut filling.  Stay tuned for a future post with photos of the groom’s cake

Congratulations Jennifer and Geoff!

Jen & Geoff left us a wonderful comment about the cake. We really couldn’t ask for a better testimonial and we are excited to see her photos from the reception:

Words cannot express our amazement, joy, and sheer disbelief when we saw our cake. You guys took our very simple ideas (including all 15 rounds of changes!) and transformed them into a work of edible art. A friend of mine who was at the wedding is in the industry, and she said it was the most beautiful cake she has ever seen - and she has seen a lot of cakes. When we were waiting to be introduced, the bridal attendant ran down to me (Jen) and told me that the cake was ridiculous – in a good way!… I made her run upstairs with my camera to take sneak-peak photos because I couldn’t wait till the reception!
What really made it for us was its simplicity – and how you made three fun little cupcakes into a beautiful, stunning, bridal masterpiece. I could go on and on, but I’ll keep it short and say this – thank you for giving us the most perfect wedding cake ever. We are truly amazed by your talent.
