Heap, a graduate of Boston College, began a career in advertising but was soon lured away to pursue her dreams of baking. She enrolled in New York’s French Culinary Institute Pastry Arts program, apprenticed at the famed Ron Ben-Israel cakes in Soho, went on to become pastry chef at Il Capriccio Ristorante in Whippany and has been whipping up innovative sweet confections ever since.
Her specialty-baking business started out small in her home kitchen, then expanded to her mother’s larger kitchen. Now it’s grown significantly and is housed in a deluxe, modern-equipped
