The Cyclone is not the Oldest Wooden roller coaster in the world - the actual oldest that is still in operation is in Germany. For the US It is The "Lepas The Dips" at Lakemont Park in Altoona PA. This is the Oldest operating wooden coaster. It was built in 1902. It has a small car that holds 4-6 people - goes only 10 mph and has no safety straps etc for the cars. The Cyclone was built in 1927 and is the 2nd oldest still operating coaster in the US . It was tagged as "Americas Favorite" in the 60's. The Cyclone will open for 2009 season on April 5th. Palm Sunday.
