The first issue of Cake Central Magazine is now available. Ordering information is available here. Kerry Vincent is on the cover and in the article she shares her personal story and talks about her experience on cake reality tv.

We also submitted some cakes for the inaugural edition – not sure if they were published but we should find out soon.

In the episode, Anne Heap and her team face off against two others in a challenge to create an edible masterpiece in hopes of winning $10,000 and to have their cakes featured at a marquee event. For this episode, the cake is in competition to be featured at the 75th birthday celebration for the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles.

National Capital Area Cake Show 2010

We are happy to be attending the 2010 National Capital Area Cake show on March 21st, 2010 in the VA/DC area.

We are participating in two events. The first is a live cake challenge with a Cirus theme. After the challenge, we’ll be teaching a Gumpaste Party Animal Topper Cake class. During the class we’ll be teaching you how to create gumpaste party animals on top of a faux topper.

New York Cake Convention Demonstration

Unfortunately the start of 2010 did not start well for me and I was home sick on Saturday and was unable to attend the demonstration at the cake convention.

To make up for missing the event, I’ll be posting a video later this week of the Fancy shoebox and gumpaste shoe cake demo I was supposed to give on Saturday.

Love What You Do

I will be attending FCI’s open house on December 3rd from 6:30 to 8:30pm for a special event with FCI founder Dorothy Cann Hamilton, author of Love What You Do: Building a Career in the Culinary Industry.

During the session Dorothy will host a Q&A session with myself and Ed McFarland, owner of Ed’s Lobster Bar in NYC, discussing how we came to be where we are today.

Pink Tie Party Fundraising Gala

Liz and I attended the Pink Tie Party Mayfair Farms in West Orange last night. We debuted our new flavor – pink champagne cake and mimosa buttercream. Some were even filled with vanilla mousse. In total we donated 600 cupcakes for the event. Funds from the event will support breast cancer research and life-saving breast health programs for uninsured women throughout Northern New Jersey.

Making Strides Walk
