Deirdre’s House (The Deirdre O’Brien Child Advocacy Center) is the Center for children in Morris County who have suffered abuse, neglect or witnessed domestic violence. Established in 1994, Deirdre’s House is the only site in Morris County where a child victim can be interviewed and digitally recorded by law enforcement, medically examined and treated by a pediatric abuse specialist, prepared for trial, and clinically counseled—all under one roof.

Today I taped a segment on Daily Connections with Meredith Orlow. It’s a talk show for women on a satellite TV network. I did a segment on cupcake decorating. We’ll put a link up once it airs for your viewing pleasure ! Stay tuned!

To support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pink Cake Box will be donating a percentage of our profits in October to the National Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. Pink Cake Box is happy to support the Pink Ribbon Campaign in the fight against breast cancer.

This past Thursday, our new and improved (i.e. larger) sign went up at our store in Denville! Thanks to Brenco Signs in Denville for printing and installing the sign.

It’s official - we have moved into our new space in Denville! Our state of the art kitchen is set up with a Vulcan convection oven, a walk-in refrigerator, double-door freezers and plenty of work space. Of course, we have designated space in the front of the shop for tastings and consultations!

On February 2, 2007 Deirdre’s House, the Center for Morris County’s Child Victims, will be hosting a silent auction with fabulous wine from The Wine Library in Springfield, NJ and delicious chocolate provided by Pink CakeBox!

The event is being held at the Hyatt Morristown in Headquarters Plaza and the cost is $65 per person. Come join us for this worthwhile cause! More information about the event is available here.

Also we recommend checking out Wine Library’s web site. It’s one of the best sites I’ve seen for researching wine. They have a whole video blog dedicated to wine tasting and offer free shipping for their wine of the day selection.

Last night we attending a networking event for Brides.com and Brides NJ magazine. The magazine is new - if you’re a bride, you should check it out! We were able to donate wedding cake cookies for the event…which always seem to put a smile on people’s faces! We’re also now listed on Brides.com as a NJ cake vendor…so yippy!

I wanted to let you all know about a great benefit happening next weekend. It’s meant to support “Lost in Transition: Williamsburg and Carroll Gardens” on Saturday, July 22nd.

The project documents the gentrification of two Brooklyn neighborhoods: Williamsburg & Carroll Gardens. The student’s photographs plus her photographs will be on display at the very high profile Municipal Arts Society of New York in Manhattan. So far Jackie has attempted to fund this exhibition by herself and it has gotten beyond her means. This is why we now need your HELP!

The exhibition is costing well more than anticipated. It’s time to support the arts! To offset the expenses and help support more exhibitions of high school kid’s work, we are holding a benefit/ fundraiser at Phonograph bar in Williamsburg. All proceeds go to the project. EVERY DIME counts. So please come join us in support of this worthy project!

Anniveraries are very important. Whether they are to celebrate a marriage, a birthday, a retirement or a big purchase, they are a wonderful way to relive important days in life. I was recently asked to create a cake for a very important anniversary, for Deirdre’s House, a Center for children in Morris County who have suffered abuse, neglect or witnessed domestic violence. They are celebrating their 10 year anniversary with a Rededication of the Center in conjunction with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and National Crime Victim’s Rights Week on April 26, 2006.
